Welcome to The Business Beat.

Restaurant Re-opens After Fire

The Electric City Gardens

Great to see that The Electric City Gardens has opened again after a terrible fire back in September. Owners Toby and Susan Tyler have completely renovated the restaurant with a fantastic decorating scheme by James Bodner and Glen Alexander of Katchewanooka Lake, complete with a lounge and fireplace. They have a brand new kitchen, a full menu, and they’ll now be serving Sunday Brunch. Property Manager Peter Boot recently handed over the keys to Toby after the fire renovations were complete. The Electric City Gardens is located at 373 Queen Street in Peterborough, call (705) 749-1909.

New Metals Company in Peterborough

A new metals processing and distribution company has come to Peterborough. Scission Tech Inc. was co-founded earlier this year by principles Shawn Mowry, Greg Scholey and Andre Metivier. Scission Tech can offer cut to size processing on materials up to 7 inches thick utilizing waterjet technology. Waterjet is a form of erosion using ultra high-pressure water and garnet. Waterjet cutting can be used on steel, glass, marble, stone, ceramics, rubber, and plastics. Scission Tech will also be stocking specialty metals for sale including aluminium and stainless sheet, plate, bars and shapes. Customers are free to supply their own material for processing as well. There is an Open House this Thursday (January 26th) from 4 - 7 pm at 665 Neal Drive Unit 3, across from Pan-Oston. Call (705) 748-5222 for more information.
