Welcome to The Business Beat.
Two New Restaurants Open
Rivals Sports Bar and Grill is a great new spot at 91 George Street across from Little Lake. Owners Al Partridge and Mike Rivard opened on June 30, featuring a full pub menu, specializing in ribs, plus they have lots of fun things like a Jamaican Bob Sled, which is a jerk wrap, and a bucket of balls, which are chicken balls. The sports theme includes a bar that looks like Hockey Arena Boards, complete with advertising, lots of memorabilia, and a television view from every seat in the house, which total 78 inside and 62 on the patio. Rivals Sports Bar and Grill is open from 11:00 am - 2:00 am, 7 days a week. Watch for breakfast starting in September. Call (705) 742-9383 for more information.
The second restaurant is Bonfire Rotisserie & Grill recently opened at 815 High Street, across from Lansdowne Place Mall. People from Lindsay will certainly recognize the name, The Bonfire has been a fixture over in Lindsay for years, and owners Rhonda and Rick Van Leyden are very excited about opening their second location. Like the Lindsay location, they are a family restaurant specializing in chicken and ribs. The restaurant has undergone extensive renovations to create a warm, traditional atmosphere, what Rick and Rhonda call “refined casual dining”. The Bonfire is open daily from 8:00 am for breakfast lunch and dinner, and they serve a Sunday Brunch Sundays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. They can also handle small groups of 35 - 40 in a semi-private setting and they do outside catering. Call (705) 741-6333 for more information.
Law Practices Merge
The say in a small town what goes around comes around... Over 30 years ago Bob McGillen started out as a lawyer working with Doug Galvin. Recently Bob McGillen, and his partners Jeff Ayotte and Arlynn Dupuis announced the merger of their law practice with the practice of Doug Galvin! Doug has retired after more than 40 years, and Bob, Jeff and Arlynn will carry on Doug's practice under the name McGillen Ayotte Dupuis at 347 Charlotte Street in Peterborough, (705) 748-2241.
New Tack Shop in Peterborough
Peterborough Tack has new owners. Rick Playford and Mary Ellen Moore are now the sole owners, and have changed the look, the inventory and introduced two new staff members, Jennifer Fraser and Ashleigh Allen. Peterborough Tack sells English and western tack, saddles, blankets, medicines and supplements, grooming supplies, apparel, and collectables, over 2000 square feet of merchandise. Peterborough Tack is open daily except Monday, located at 25 Lansdowne Street, just West of the bridge, across from Curry Tire. Call (705) 741-2289 for more information.
