Scott Cherwaty of Scotty's Goody Shack

Scott Cherwaty recently opened a new country store/wholesaler in Burleigh Falls called Scotty's Goody Shack. Open seven days a week year-round, Scotty's carries everything from fresh produce, dairy products, Sticklings breads and desserts, Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream and a full line of grocery products. You'll also find Scotty's Chip Truck and Scooped ice Cream from Central Smith. Next year Scott plans to add a full garden center and produce stand as well as a mini-putt. Peninsula Environmental Solutions

Ernie Carriere's new company, Peninsula Environmental Solutions, uses plants to help prevent pollution. The process is called Phytoremediation, which involves soil and water plantings, including trees, shrubs and perennials, to help clean up and prevent pollution. There is a significant amount of research around the ability of plants to contain, degrade, or remove toxic chemicals and pollutants from soil or water. Retirement residence now under construction

Congratulations to Ross and Brad Smith and Tim Harrold of AON Inc. on the sod turning for their latest project - Canterbury Gardens, a 135 suite retirement residence now under construction at the corner of Glenforest Blvd and Sherbrooke Street. The $30 million project will involve over 400,000 hours of work, and will employ more than 100 staff when it is completed in Fall 2008. Canterbury Gardens is the fourth retirement community in Peterborough for AON Inc, and will offer a variety of care options. For more information call (705) 742-3801.
