A note From the Musical Director:

When it comes to programming I like to go places that a small city community choir typically does not go. On the literal side that place is Winchester Cathedral, England, and for a week next summer the Peterborough Singers will be in residence at the six hundred year old Winchester College, and singing the daily services at the 900 year old cathedral. And that will explain why the final concert of the season, usually a big ticket oratorio item, is for 06/07 a collection of some of the most glorious choral music of the cathedral tradition.

Now on a different tack, please tell me the last time you heard of renowned Canadian artist Michael Burgess returning to his classical roots and singing Handel’s Messiah? With the Singers, Dec 18 and 19. Remember Natalie Choquette? She returns with a new set of music, and brings her eldest daughter Florence, now taking the Canadian jazz world by storm. And then the Singers let down their hair under the direction of the inimitable Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, as they present Afro-American Spirituals.

Of course we will be featuring plenty of young talent, both local and from across the country, along with music of Canadian composers, but at the heart of it all you will find 100 award-winning, enthusiastic and hard working choir members. Please join us for another season of "Sing with Syd".
