Liftlock and the River Boat Cruises

Liftlock and the River Boat Cruises have several cruise options. Chippewa II on Stoney Lake

Travel on this 140-passenger steamboat replica for a 15 km cruise through the 1,128 charted islands of Stony and Clear Lakes. Live commentary covers St. Peter's Church on the Rock, accessible only by boat, 22-acre Ronnie Hawkins estate, last remaining steamship waiting station, Davis Island Manor and the history of Stony Lake.

Kawartha Spirit

Fenelon Falls Boat Cruises offers scenic cruises on the Trent-Severn Waterway in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario. Their cruise boat, the "Kawartha Spirit" is the largest Canadian Coast Guard-approved vessel serving the Kawarthas, with a passenger capacity of 200. Passengers are invited to join a cruise through the picturesque lakes and enjoy the breathtaking scenery -- and may even catch a glimpse of a Great Blue Heron or an Osprey nesting site. Kawartha Voyageur

Enjoy a five-day cruise on the comfortable and spacious "Kawartha Voyageur" as it glides through a panorama of lakes and rivers on the Trent Severn Waterway and Rideau Canal with their connecting man-made channels and locks. Each day and night of the cruise brings new appreciation of these beautiful waterways.

There isn't any formal entertainment or structured program but passengers enjoy cards and other table games, and a library of books and magazines. For history buffs, a fine collection of historic books and pictures pertaining to the canal and local pioneer days is available. Overnight docking sites at scenic locks and dams invite leisurely strolls or campfire sing-songs.

Rice Lake Cruises

Rice Lake Boat Cruises offers scenic cruises on the Trent-Severn Waterway in the Peterborough and Northumberland County region of Ontario. Their cruise boat, the "Caravelle II", is 60 passenger Canadian Coast Guard-approved vessel.

Operating out of the picturesque Victoria Inn on Rice Lake, visitors can choose from a two hour site-seeing cruise, or a three-hour dinner cruise or four-hour river cruise of Rice Lake and the Otonabee River. Passengers learn about the geology, natural, aboriginal history and settlement history of the area, and hear stories of Catharine Parr Traill and Susannah Moodie, and their part in the settlement of the Kawarthas.

Lower Buckhorn Lake Boat Cruise

A Short Drive... A World Away! Leave from the Westwind Inn (3 km east of Buckhorn on the south side of County Road 36) for a 1.5-hour, 20 km cruise through Lower Buckhorn Lake. It includes an interpretive commentary covering history and native flora and fauna, exploring the islands, and views of the pristine Canadian Shield wilderness and wildlife. Cruises are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 11:00 am and some evenings. Tickets are $20 plus tax.
